Google AdWords is now Google Ads.
Google Ads is More Than Words, So Google Retired AdWords
Did you know Google AdWords – I mean, Google Ads – offers text, display, video, shopping, and app install ads across Search, Maps, YouTube, Gmail and other properties and network partner sites? If you didn’t, then you’re not alone – and this is exactly why Google took the “Words” out of AdWords.
Google Ads wants you to know there’s so much more available to you than just simple text ads – the product that got this whole party started.
What Can You Do With Google Ads?
Text Ads
Of course, text ads aren’t going anywhere. These are the ads showing text only, without images or video. Largely still in use, text ads can appear on search partner sties, as well as the Search Network and Display Network.

Video Ads
If you want to take advantage of the massive online video audience, then you may want to consider using video ads on the Google Ads platform. Once your videos are uploaded to YouTube, use your Ads account to set up video advertising – which will broadcast to viewers on YouTube.
Shopping Ads
If you’re looking for more ways to sell products, then shopping ads can be your best friend. These ads combine text and images, and are displayed across Google Search, Images and YouTube – plus whenever people search for the keyword you bid on.
Display Ads
Looking for advertising that’s a little more versatile? Check out display ads on the Google Ads platform. Yours can show up in Gmail, as banner ads, alongside mobile apps or in-app, and simple text ads like we talked about earlier.
Whether you’re a Google AdWords veteran or just thinking about joining the new Ads platform, it’s good to know you have options when it comes to paid advertising.
